My photography workshops are a comprehensive series of Instructional Photographic Workshops designed to enhance your visionary skills, as well as your technical execution. Special emphasis is placed on creating images with Visual Impact. Increase your proficiency while using creative tecniques, compositional elements and light to design in-camera images that are a cut above. Charles will share the techniques that have garnered him over 40 state, national, and international awards. Expand your photographic horizons. Learn to "Shoot the Light".

Every Instructional Photographic Workshop has but one goal; offering the participant the most education for the dollar. Planned by a photographer for photographers, each is unique, dedicated to bringing you only the finest in photographic instruction.

All photography workshops now employ state of the art digital photography technology, allowing real time, in-field assessment of metering theory and compensation, composition, fill flash, DOF, etc. Providing the most education for your dollar is paramount. There is no better, more effective means available - seeing is believing!

Jan 23-26; Triple D Feline Winter Wildlife Models-(full) this workshop is specifically tailored to photograph cats in full winter coat in a variety of natural settings, to include multiple sessions with species such as cougar, tiger, Siberian and Canadian lynx, bobcat, and snow leopard.

Feb 6th-13th (full) and 14th -21st (full); Yellowstone in Winter - Join us as we travel through the interior of majestic Yellowstone National Park at the peak of the winter season, spending 12 hours a field each day for eight glorious days and 7 nights photographing big game wildlife and scenic wonders via our privately chartered Snow Coach and van in Lamar Valley. Join us for one or both sessions.

Feb 22nd- 25th; Winter Wildlife Models Bozeman, MT- (full) we will photograph lions and tigers and bears oh my...subjects in full winter coats w/o enclosures. Shoot in your face grizz images, mtn lions running at the camera, wolf packs, and so much more, all in natural habitat. Contact us for more details.

March 2-9; Sea of Cortez Wildlife workshop -(full) we cruise the Sea of Cortez aboard the Don Jose, and explore the islands and coast between La Paz and Loreto for a breathtaking array of whales and dolphins - from Fin and Humpback to Sperm, Orca and Pilot. Photograph blue footed boobies raising their young, and tens of thousands of royal and elegant terns in their nests Snorkel with sea lions and much more

March 13-17th, 18th-22nd; Eagles of Homer, AK- (full) all agree Homer, AK remains the best place in the world for close-up and in-flight eagle images. Additional species photographed included, long-tailed duck, red-breasted merganser, barrow's goldeneye, northern hawk owl, rosy finch, moose and more.

April 5th-8th; STL Tech Series, St Augustine, FL - (full) this Advanced Series of metering, flash, postproduction and visual design workshops are for those photographers who wish to take their imagery to the next level. This series will consist of both classrom and in-field instruction. Note- This one is a highlight each year!

NEW April 26-27th; Advanced Photoshop Technical Workshop weekend, Brevard, NC- (open enrollment) Guaranteed to take your images to the next level. Unleash the full power of CS3 through advanced selection, masking, sharpening, mode change, LAB techniques and much more.

May 2nd-5th- Wild Mustangs of Colorado/Wyoming- (full) an exceptional opportunity to photograph wild horses and other wildlife in their natural free roaming environment. Includes accomadations and meals.

May 16-19 (full), 20-23th (full); Black Bear w/ spring cubs- a most unforgetable workshop and experiance, providing the participant with excellent opportunites to photograph wild black bears, w/ spring cubs (we had 14 in '07) and outstanding behaviorial imagery.

June 1-3, 5-7, 9-11; Loons and More ;-(full) loons w/ chicks will be the highlight. Additional species- sora, bittern, barred owl, frogs, turtles, snakes and many feeder birds should also be available. This extraordinary workshop is one you will not want to miss. Learn how to use manual metering and manual flash techniques to produce outstanding imagery.

June 17-27th Iceland, A Bird Photographers Paradise; (full) particiption is limited to 10. Our itinerary has been custom tailored to maximize Iceland's unique bird and sea mammal photographic opportunities. If you are a bird photographer, this workshop will provide very close access to some of the best shorebird and seabird breeding ground and habitat in the world.

NEW--July 2nd-8th Kodiak, AK; join us as we photograph up close some of the worlds largest coastal brown bears. Moreover, Kodiak is brimming with wildlife, in addition to brown bears we will stop along the way to photograph some of the other Island inhabitants. Photographic opportunities may include Buffalo, Elk, Mountain Goats, Fox, Eagles, Wild Horses, Ducks and Otters! . Participation is limited to seven.

July 25-Aug 8; Ultimate Botswana - (only 1 space available) this is a limited participation photographic safari, specifically designed using custom photo configured vehicles to maximize and insure the best photo opportunities possible.
Join us as we travel to some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Africa to fulfill your photographic dreams.

Aug 17-24th (full) & 24th-31st (full); # 1 The Ultimate Coastal Brown Bear Workshop, Katmai, AK- Brown bears and more, spectacular scenery and wonderful memories are just a part of this extraordinary workshop. Kodiak boat charter for puffins, whales and more is also available on the 16th.

Sept 13-20 The Spirit Bears of the Great Bear Rainforest, BC; (1 space now available) using our 71 ft vessel as a base we explore salmon creeks and rivers in Coastal BC to photograph the Spirit Bear and the Coastal Grizzly Bear. The photographic opportunities are amazing, and should include Spirit Bears, black bears, grizzly and wolves. This trip will give you access to some of the best bear viewing locations in the world! The fall is a time of plenty and marine mammals such as the humpback whale are a common sight. Contact us for more details. Space is limited to 8 participants.

Oct 3rd-7th Custer St Pk, SD; Custer St Park is an uncrowded wonderland of wildlife; bison, pronghorn, white-tailed and mule deer, elk, coyote, prairie dog, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, turkey, grouse, and more await the participant. It is the best place I know of for pronghorn. The included cabin accommodations provide a wonderful platform for classroom instruction, with a digital projector set-up, daily critiques and lesson plans

Oct 10-14th Jasper, with 2 day extension 15th-16th for Alberta bighorn ; (only 2 spaces available) Jasper is one of my favorite places for wildlife. Big elk (6x7), coyote, bighorn sheep, mtn. goat, moose, deer, wolves and killer landscapes around every corner await the participant of this special workshop. This will be our sixth year, and we know all the best places for wildlife.

Nov 8th-15th; Polar bears of Churchill and more (only 1 space left) - join us as we photograph polar bears, arctic and red fox, arctic hare and more. This is a photographers dream experience, and one you will not want to miss. This will be our 8th workshop in Churchill, and the dates are the best available.

2009" Shoot the Light" Instructional Photographic Workshops

Jan TBA; Triple D Feline Winter Wildlife Models-This workshop is specifically tailored to photograph cats in full winter coat in a variety of natural settings, to include multiple sessions with species such as cougar, tiger, Siberian and Canadian lynx, bobcat, and snow leopard.

Jan 31-Feb 14th; Falkland Is.. (4 spaces available) our itinerary has been custom tailored for photographing both marine wildlife and birds. This one is not to be missed with at least 4 species of penguins-king, magellenic, rockhopper and gentoo, as well as black-browed albatross, striated caracara, king and rock cormorants and many other shorebirds, seabirds and passerines. We will also have the opportunity to photograph elephant seals and Southern sea lions. Includes, weather permitting West Point. Jason Islands also available. Contact us for additional details.

May 15-18th , 19-22nd ; Black Bear w/ spring cubs- A most unforgettable workshop and experience, providing the participant with excellent opportunities to photograph wild black bears with spring cubs, yearlings, and outstanding behavioral imagery. This will be our 15th visit, and once again, we will have the sanctuary completely to ourselves

June 4-6th, June 8-10th ; Loons and More ;- loons w/ chicks are the highlight. Additional species may include sora, bittern, barred owl, frogs, turtles, snakes and feeder birds. This extraordinary workshop is highly productive. Our custom modified pontoon boat and habituated loon pairs w/ chicks offer incredible photographic opportunities.

June 18-28th Iceland, A Bird Photographers Paradise; particiption is limited with only a few spaces remaing available.
This promises to be a Spectacular Workshop.We have custom tailored the '09 schedule to include additional days/evenings with the puffins and red-throated loons with chicks. Additionally, we have made special arrangments to photograph Icelandic horses among lupine, running on black sand beaches, and much more! If you are a bird photographer, this workshop will provide very close access to some of the best shorebird and seabird breeding ground and habitat in the world.

July dates TBA-Lake Clark National Park; Lake Clark NP is a relatively new park with untapped potential for professional and amateur photographers alike. The idyllic salt water bays and grassy meadows of its coastline harbor some of Alaska's most fascinating wildlife. Bears are abundant and our hosts spectacular.
